SDSD - Solid Deck Shaping Drum
Through their novel design and perfect form, WYKO Solid Deck Shaping Drums (SDSDs) offer high-quality and repeatable accuracy each and every cycle.
Popular for motorcycle (MCR)/scooter and ultra-high performance passenger (UHP PCR), this drum dictates the ultimate shaped geometry of the carcass instead of relying solely on pneumatic shaping.
In cases where splice variations could otherwise negatively influence the final shape on pneumatic-only drums, the concern is eliminated thanks to the deck surface present during SDSD shaping. Annular segments with specific profiles travel radially and interlock at the expanded position, thereby precisely determining the shaped curvature.
As a result, WYKO SDSD drums provide a level of consistency beyond more traditional pneumatic-only shaping/forming. In addition, the interlocked segments provide a firm deck for accurate component application and stitching.
The bead locking set width is actuated via central ball screw. Other functions, including bead lock expand, are pneumatic. Models are available with non-expanding bead flanges as well.
Segments are made for specific profiles and can be further customized with coatings, etc.
